Zoe's History

Zoe's Beachfront Eatery sits at the intersection of Beach Avenue and Stockton Place in historic Cape May, New Jersey.

The site is that of the former Stockton Hotel (pictured left), which stood from 1869 through 1910 and accommodated more than 475 guests. The Stockton Hotel occupied the entire plot of land where Stockton Avenue now sits, which was since subdivided and developed.

The current building complex (pictured right), which includes the Beach Theatre and surrounding shops, was constructed in 1950 by builder William C. Hunt, following the design of famed theatre architect William H. Lee.

Our location began as a bakery and served as two other restaurants before becoming "Zoe's Beachfront Eatery" in the early 1990s.
